Topping Rose House Gets New Lead Chef
Tom Colicchio’s Topping Rose House in Bridgehampton has a new chef at the helm of the kitchen.
Kyle Koenig, the chef de cuisine, is now overseeing all food service at the restaurant and hotel. Koenig takes over from executive chef Ty Kotz, who is moving to South Carolina.
Koenig was one of the first employees to sign on to Topping Rose House, joining the new business as sous chef before being promoted in August 2013 to chef de cuisine.
The Texas native cooked in the north Dallas area until he was 21, when he enrolled at the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY. That’s where he met his wife, Jessica, a Long Island native. They originally set off to work in New York City.
Koenig worked for Cru in Mahattan, then Gerry Hayden and Claudia Fleming of North Fork Table & Inn in Southold brought him on for a season. He next worked for the Plaza Hotel in New York for two years. His first job with Colicchio was sous chef for Colicchio & Sons on 10th Avenue for two years.
Koenig has been with Topping Rose House from Day One, and his wife became the restaurant’s beverage manager.
