BMW of Southampton Offers Electric Car Test Drives at Saturday BMW i3 Event

Six 2014 BMW i3 all-electric cars will be available at BMW of Southampton this Saturday, June 6, for a special test-drive event.

This is the debut model year for the i3. It wasn’t until this May that an American retail customer got his hands on one. The i3s are super-lightweight, made with carbon fiber reinforced plastic. Some come with a “range extender”—a small gas tank that allows for longer trips without recharging.

A pre-production model is out front at BMW of Southampton now. A bigger floor model is inside the showroom. On Saturday more are coming, so customers can try different models.

Test drive hours are 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Drivers must be 21 or older with a valid driver’s license.
