Stony Hill Stables Foundation to Host Annual Benefit Cocktail Party Saturday
Equestrians and horse enthusiasts alike have the opportunity to enjoy a mini horse show while supporting the Stony Hill Stables Foundation in its annual benefit cocktail party this weekend.
The benefit will be held at the Amagansett stables on Saturday, June 21, from 6 to 8 p.m.
The evening includes a number of dressage events. Featured highlights will be a dressage exhibition with narration and a Dressage Pas de Deux finale performance. Additionally, riders from Stony Hill Stables are scheduled to perform a Pony Drill Team presentation for attendees.
Apart from the entertainment portions, Stony Hill Stables will also honor its three new trainers in a formal presentation. Ashley Lynott, the director of the camp, Katherine Byrd, a dressage trainer and Courtney Miller, the head hunter and jumper trainer, will all be recognized at the benefit.
The cocktail party benefits the Stony Hill Stables Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to the growth of the sport, including increasing education and competition opportunities for young riders since its launch in the summer of 2012.
The scholarship aspect of the Stony Hill Stables Foundation is unique among stables on Long Island. Recipients of the scholarships have gone on to earning ribbons in numerous horse shows across the country, including the Sagaponack Horse Show and the Hampton Classic right here on the East End.
Wick Hotchkiss, the stable owner, described the importance of the foundation.
“As both an active member in the equestrian world and local Amagansett resident, it has been my life-long dream to make the equestrian experience more accessible in our community,” he said. “The Stony Hill Stables Foundation was created to give back to our community by providing equestrian programs which will facilitate the growth of the sport on the East End.”
Tickets for the benefit and donations are available in advance online at stonyhillstables.com or by mailing to Stony Hill Stables Foundation, P.O. Box 283, Amagansett, NY 11930. Tickets are $125 per person or $200 for a couple.
