East Hampton Gourmet Food Receives National Acclaim
Among thousands of entrants from across the country, East Hampton Gourmet Food’s signature Lentil & Rice Crispbread stands out as the finest in the specialty food industry.
East Hampton Gourmet Food is the winner of the 2014 Specialty Outstanding Food Innovation (Sofi) Award for Outstanding New Product. Sofi awards, recognitions from The Specialty Food Association, are regarded as some of the most prestigious honors in the business.
The Sofis span 32 categories, including Outstanding Chocolate, Cheese, Snack Food and more. The Lentil & Rise Cripsbread was among the 125 finalists from 2,737 total nationwide entries for the awards.
The award was presented to East Hampton Gourmet Food on June 30 at the 60th Summery Fancy Food Show in New York City. The awards ceremony took place in the midst of the three-day international foodie convention, which included thousands of exhibitions from 80 countries.
Specialty Food Association President Ann Daw spoke to the prestige of the Sofi Awards.
“Winners of the Sofi Awards represent the best of the best in specialty food,” she said. “Each winner reflects the creativity, craft and joy the food maker brings to their work producing great food.”
The Newtown Lane business is perhaps best known for its Lentil & Rice Crispbreads. The innovative recipe comes in rosemary parmesan, sesame pink salt, everything and cheddar chipotle flavors.
“We are thrilled to win the sofi for our Crispbread,” said Kate Pratt, co-owner of East Hampton Gourmet Food along with Michel Mazuret.
Pratt and Mazuret have been in business for over 15 years, servicing numerous specialty shops including Dean and Deluca, Balduccis, Hayday Markets and Sutton Place Gourmet.
The Crispbreads are available at their online store at mcssl.com/store/easthamptongourmetfood or in person at their Newtown Lane shop. East Hampton Gourmet Food is open daily and also offers catering and entertaining services.
