Academy Award winner Mercedes Ruehl to Read at Dan's Papers Literary Prize Ceremony
Academy Award winner Mercedes Ruehl will appear at Guild Hall’s John Drew Theater in East Hampton this Saturday, August 16, at 4 p.m. for the Dan’s Papers $6,000 Literary Prize for Nonfiction awards ceremony, where she will read aloud the winning entry from the 2014 competition. Walter Isaacson, author of Steve Jobs, will give the keynote speech, and Len Riggio of Barnes & Noble will give out the prize to the winner.
All are welcome and the event is free to the public, but seating is on a first-come basis, and no reserved seating is available, so please arrive early. Doors open at 3:30 p.m., the awards ceremony will begin at 4 p.m.
The Dan’s Papers $6,000 Literary Prize for Nonfiction awards $5,000 to its winning nonfiction writer each year and divides the remaining $1,000 between its first and second runners-up. Other notable submissions are published as “Guest Essays” throughout the year in Dan’s Papers and on DansPapers.com.
