Hamptons Paddle & Party for Pink to Be Held August 16
The third annual Hamptons Paddle & Party for Pink fundraiser will be held on Saturday, August 16. The two-part event, a multi-skill level paddleboarding race and benefit party, will benefit the Breast Cancer Research foundation and is co-hosted by prominent New Yorkers Lisa and Richard Perry and full-time Hamptons residents Maria and Larry Baum.
The morning paddleboard race at 8 a.m. on Havens Beach will bring together hundreds of competitive paddleboarders and spectators. Co-chair Maria Baum, mother of four and co-owner of the well-known Sag Harbor restaurant Tutto II Giorno, took on paddle boarding as an exuberant activity to help her cope with her breast cancer diagnosis, treatment and subsequent recovery. She will once again race alongside longtime paddler Richard Perry and an anticipated 150-plus paddlers. The race will follow World Paddle Association racing rules and all racers will be timed with the WPA Blast Race Management System.
The race will be followed by a sunset party at 6:30 p.m. at the Perry residence and will be attended by several hundred invited guests in support of raising critical funds for breast cancer research.
The Breast Cancer Research Foundation advances the world’s most promising research to eradicate breast cancer in our lifetime. Founded by Evelyn H. Lauder in 1993, BCRF has raised more than $500 million to fuel discoveries in tumor biology, genetics, prevention, treatment, survivorship and metastasis. Last year’s Hamptons Paddle & Party for Pink raised more than $1.2 million in funds that went directly toward the foundation.
The public is welcome to attend the morning paddleboard race at 8 a.m. on Havens Beach for a registration fee of $100 and guests who purchase tickets will be invited to the sunset party, both of which will be held on August 16.
