Showtime Shares Teaser for New Montauk-Set Drama 'The Affair'
At once deeply observed and intriguingly elusive, Showtime’s upcoming Hamptons-based series, The Affair, immediately gets kudos for, unlike some shows (sorry, Revenge), actually being filmed in the Hamptons. Now that the trailer has been released for the show, it looks like it might be a good watch, too.
Starring Dominic West of HBO’s classic The Wire, Maura Tierney (ER, NewsRadio), Joshua Jackson (Pacey on Dawson’s Creek, oh, and Fringe) and Ruth Wilson (who plays the unforgettable Alice Morgan on BBC’s Luther), The Affair explores the emotional effects of an extramarital relationship. Noah (West) is a New York City schoolteacher and novelist who is happily married, but resents his dependence on his wealthy father-in-law. Alison (Wilson) is a young waitress trying to piece her life and marriage to soon-to-be cuckolded Cole (Jackson) back together in the wake of a tragedy. Tierney, of course, plays West’s scorned wife Helen. The provocative drama unfolds when Alison and Noah meet in Montauk at the end of Long Island.
We’re not sure about the other cast members, but West has definitely been spotted in the Hamptons long before The Affair was even a script. South O’ the Highway can recall firsthand that he spent some time on Georgica Beach in East Hampton back when The Wire was still in production.
The new Showtime drama has been filming in Montauk this summer and just recently released its first teaser trailer, giving fans a look at what they can expect when the hour-long show premieres on Sunday, October 19 at 10 p.m.
