Two New Traffic Lights Coming to Flanders Road
Flanders Road, which runs from Hamptons Bays to Riverhead and is also known as State Route 24, is set to receive two new traffic signals in order to calm traffic.
New York State Assemblyman Fred Thiele announced that the traffic lights will go up at the Long View Boulevard intersection and the Long Oak Ave intersection.
The traffic signals are the result of work by the state department of transportation, Southampton Town and the Flanders, Riverside & Northampton Community Association. Thiele’s office said a state traffic study concluded that there two new traffic signals were necessary.
Flanders Road is scheduled to be repaved in early fall between the Riverside traffic circle and the Bellow Pond Road intersection in Hampton Bays.
The precise installation dates for the traffic signals have yet to be announced.
