Center Stage Presents 'The World Goes 'Round' Starting Thursday
Center Stage’s new season begins Thursday with opening night of The World Goes ‘Round.
The World Goes ‘Round is a musical revue of John Kander and Fred Ebb’s music, including songs from their shows Cabaret, Chicago, Kiss of the Spiderwoman, Woman of the Year, The Rink, The Happy Time, Flora, The Red Menace, The Act and 70, Girls, 70. The show was assembled by director Scott Ellis, choreographer Susan Stroman and librettist David Thompson,
Director Michael Disher says the show is “a wonderful display of their range and wit and depth and complexity as a songwriting duo.”
Disher promises, “Fresh faces, fine voices and some devilishly complicated vocal arrangements.”
Songs include “All That Jazz,” “The Money Song,” “Cabaret,” “Me and My Baby,” “Kiss of the Spiderwoman,” “It’s a Quiet Thing,” “New York, New York,” “Ring Them Bells,” “The Happy Time,” “I Don’t Remember You,” “Mister Cellophane,” “Maybe This Time” and more.
The World Goes ‘Round won the Lucille Lortel Award for Outstanding Musical and Drama Desk Awards for Outstanding Musical Revue and Ellis won the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Director of a Musical.
The Center Stage cast includes Richard Adler, Isabel Alvarez, Holly Marie Dunn, Sharon Mulvaney, Jaclyn Randazzo, Mary Sabo, Jack Seabury, Kyle Sherlock, Josephine Wallace and Edna Winston.
The World Goes ‘Round will be staged Thursdays at 7:30 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2:30 p.m. from October 23 through November 9 at Southampton Cultural Center, 25 Pond Lane, Southampton.
