Richard Kind Is New Mayor of Gotham
Richard Kind, the stage and screen actor who is also a member of the Bay Street Theater Board of Trustees, has a television role this season in one of the most buzzed about new shows.
Kind is Mayor Aubrey James in Fox’s Gotham, named for the fictional city where Batman resides. But this series is set in the days before Bruce Wayne becomes the superhero Batman.
While in the pilot episode Kind is only featured in a news clip, his role grows in subsequent episodes.
As a mayor of Gotham, Kind follows actors Byron Keith, from the Adam West TV show, Lee Wallace, Michael Murphy and George Wallace from the ’90s Batman movies, and Nestor Carbonell from The Dark Knight trilogy.
This summer, Kind wowed audiences at Bay Street Theater as Henry Carr in Tom Stoppard’s Travesties. Kind said playing Carr was one of the most difficult things he’s done in his life.
