Billy Joel Covers Paul McCartney's 'Maybe I'm Amazed' for Tribute Album
A tribute album featuring the music of Amagansett’s Sir Paul McCartney is due out November 18, but you can listen right now to Billy Joel‘s cover of “Maybe I’m Amazed.”
The song was first released on Sir Paul’s solo debut album, McCartney, in 1970. When a live version performed with Wings was issued as a single in 1976, it became a top-10 hit in the U.S.
Joel, of Sag Harbor, and McCartney have been friends for some time. At Joel’s Last Play at Shea concert in 2008, McCartney blew away the audience as a surprise guest, performing “I Saw Her Standing There” and “Let It Be” with Joel.
Other artists on the tribute album, titled The Art of McCartney, include Kiss, Brian Wilson, Willie Nelson, Smokey Robinson, Alice Cooper and Roger Daltrey.
