Southampton Historical Museum Launches Journal Project
The Southampton Historical Museum is launching a new journaling project that offers area residents an opportunity to become part of history in 2015.
Inspired by an 1831 diary from historic Southampton resident, James Harvey Foster, the Historical Museum is asking Southampton Town residents to write at least two sentences every day for one year. Participants will share their daily activities, mundane or thrilling, throughout 2015 and then submit the journal as part of a major exhibit, including a share-a-thon, before it is entered into the museum’s archives.
This collection of voices of varied age, gender and personality type should prove to be a valuable record of this moment in time, while entertaining and enlightening future generations.
The exhibit will be displayed at the Historical Museum’s Rogers Mansion headquarters in the spring and summer of 2016. This program is only open to the residents of the Town of Southampton and participants must sign up by December 31, 2014. Call 631-283-2494 or email [email protected] to register.
