9 Places to Get Coffee in Southampton Village That Aren't Starbucks

Starbucks is ramping up to open a café in Southampton Village on Hampton Road. It seems like the perfect time to inventory the popular village destinations for a cup of joe. Here are nine places in the village to get coffee:

Blue Duck Bakery
30 Hampton Road
Owner Keith Kouris was recently named one of the top artisan bakers in North America. So when you’re there for coffee, don’t pass up the bread and pastries.

Village Gourmet Cheese Shoppe
11 Main Street
The Village Cheese Shoppe earned a Dan’s Best of the Best platinum rating in 2014 for its coffee and cappuccino—not to mention muffins and smoothies—and a gold rating for its bagels and for being the Best Cheese Shop, Best Gourmet Food Shop, Best Health Food and Best Salad Bar. If that wasn’t enough, they’ve now become the official U.S. distributor for inveterate Swiss gourmet coffee company La Semeuse, which has been roasting its beans since 1900. Along with selling the fine coffee at retail and wholesale levels, the Cheese Shoppe is brewing and serving La Semeuse exclusively in all its forms, be it espresso, cappuccino, latte or black.

Golden Pear Cafe
99 Main Street
The Golden Pear is a long-time Hamptons favorite with additional locations in East Hampton, Bridgehampton and Sag Harbor. There are many coffee varieties to choose from and a menu of sandwiches, wraps, salads, soups and more for a satisfying lunch.

Citarella
20 Hampton Road
It’s been less than a year since Citarella opened its Southampton Village location, but it has already become a popular destination for groceries, take-out meals—and coffee.

Tate’s Bake Shop
43 North Sea Road
Kathleen King‘s bakery Tate’s is synonymous with cookies, but it also has an excellent self-serve coffee bar. Tate’s was the bronze recipient for the 2014 Dan’s Best of the Best coffee, the platinum recipient for coffee shop—and platinum for cookies.
La Parmigiana
44-48 Hampton Road
This restaurant is a popular place to grab a slice or a pie of pizza, but don’t overlook the coffee.

Schmidt’s Market
120 North Sea Road
Schmidt’s may be best known for its produce and hot lunch, but it’s also a convenient spot to grab your morning coffee—or to get a cup any time of day.

Hampton Coffee Company Experience Store
County Road 39A
Located on the outskirts on the village, this spot is one of three Hampton Coffee Company cafés—the other two being in Water Mill and Westhampton. Hampton Coffee is a local favorite, roasted on the East End. Drop in at the Southampton spot for a to-go cup, to buy a pound of coffee beans, or to experience the pour-over bar. Hampton Coffee was selected by Dan’s Papers readers as the gold Best of the Best place on the South Fork to get coffee and cappuccino.
Sant Ambroeus
30 Main Street, Southampton
The 2014 Dan’s Best of the best bronze honoree for cappuccino is also a sit-down restaurant with indoor and sidewalk dining, and there’s a gelato counter.
