Erik Payne Dies in Amagansett Crash

Erik Payne, a 25-year-old Amagansett man, died early Saturday after losing control of his truck, according to East Hampton Town police.

Police said that about 2:30 a.m. Payne’s 2001 Ford pickup, traveling north on Windmill Lane in Amagansett, left the road and struck a snowbank then a utility pole. Town police and Amagansett Fire Department responded to the scene, which was south of Town Lane.

Suffolk County medical examiner’s office investigators pronounced Payne dead at the scene.

The accident remains under investigation. Police ask anyone with information to call 631-537-7575.
