Join the Riverhead Foundation for a Seal Release Saturday

A rehabilitated seal will be released back into the wild this Saturday, May 23, in Hampton Bays and the public is invited to help see her off.

The female gray seal, Mystique, has received approval from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration to return to the sea.

Mystique was rescued from Bridgehampton on March 30 dehydrated and underweight. She being taken in by the Riverhead Foundation for Marine Research and Preservation, she has gained 36 pounds.

The release will take place at the Ponquogue Bridge.  Head south over the bridge toward Dune Road, left a left, another quick left, and drive to the end to reach the release site.
