Westhampton Beach Middle School Names Lobby Makeover Contest Winner
As pink cherry blossom trees evoke spring on the East End, life imitates art in eighth-grader Elina Rulchmanova’s contest-winning art piece that now drapes the new and improved lobby of Westhampton Beach Middle School.
The Student Council held a brand new, school-wide art contest to makeover the school’s lobby showcase.
In the lobby showcase where Rulchmanova’s work now resides, a hand-drawn Roman numeral clock surrounded by pink and white blossom-like butterflies is the centerpiece. Upon the glass, Rulchmanova also handmade uniquely detailed pink and black paper butterflies.
As well as being an exceptional artist, Rulchmanova’s teachers say she is a very thoughtful student and excels in math.
Rulchmanova, who recently moved to the East End from Russia, says it took her two weeks to design the showcase.
Student Council member Sarah Gobler came up with the idea of this inaugural art contest.
