Angelina Ballerina Author Katharine Holabird Introduces Twinkle at Southampton Arts Center
For lovers of fairies and everything pink and sparkly, Katharine Holabird will read her book Twinkle Thursday at Southampton Arts Center, which is a perfect way to spend a summer afternoon with children, and adults, who love this author and her tickled pink imagination.
Holabird is well known for her acclaimed children’s book series Angelina Ballerina, which features the adventures of a tiny white mouse dressed up from head to toe in ballerina attire.
After such global success with Angelina Ballerina, Holabird has begun the brand new Twinkle series featuring Angelina’s good friend Twinkle.
Twinkle is attending her first day at The Fairy School of Magic and Music, but hijinks follow as she forgets the magic words and her spells go from bad to worse.
Children will be mesmerized by the colorful and imaginative artwork of illustrator Sarah Warburton paired with the fairy dust trail, silly adventures and friends of Twinkle.
On Holabird’s official website, she includes many photos, inspirations and original thoughts on Angelina and her imagination.
“I thought about all the young children who are thrilled by performing and dancing, just like my daughters, and sat down to write about a small star with enormous dreams. Before long, the impulsive and highly emotional character of Angelina leapt onto the page,” Holabird says about her inspiration.
Holabird will be read at the Southampton Arts Center at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 2.
This event is free of charge. Children are encouraged to dress in their own ballerina and fairy attire. Twinkle, herself, is slated to make an appearance.
The Southampton Arts Center is located at 25 Jobs Lane in Southampton. For more information, visit southamptoncenter.org.
