Sagaponack resident Katie Lee, a co-host of Food Network’s The Kitchen and the author of the Endless Summer Cookbook, has a lot on her plate lately—no pun intended.
This Friday she participated in the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service Ivory Crush event. They crushed 1 ton of seized illegal ivory in Times Square to protest the killing of elephants for their ivory. Lee posted a picture on her Instagram page @katieleekitchen of the ugly trinkets they destroyed.
“Every 15 minutes an elephant is killed to make ugly trinkets like these,” she said in her post. “Let’s not be the generation that lets elephants go extinct.”
You can help support the elephants like Lee by finding out more information on the Instagram pages @96elephants and @thewcs.
In addition to her television hosting duties, Lee will be hosting this year’s Dan’s Taste of Two Forks, presented by Farrell Building, along with Michael Symon, star of ABC’s The Chew. Join Lee in this paradise for foodies held in Bridgehampton on Saturday, July 18. For more information visit DansTaste.com.
