Nelson DeMille Greets Fans at BookHampton, Riverhead Library
Nelson DeMille signed copies of his new novel, Radiant Angel, on Saturday in Southampton, East Hampton and Riverhead.
Scores of DeMille’s fans headed to BookHampton locations in Southampton and East Hampton and the Riverhead Library during his one-day mini-tour so they could hear DeMille speak and have the chance to meet the author. The new book features popular character John Corey, who combats terrorism.
DeMille was born in New York City. His family moved to Long Island when he was a child and where he later attended Hofstra University for three years before joining the Army and attending Officer Candidate School. DeMille was decorated with the Air Medal, Bronze Star, and the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry for his service in the Vietnam War as an infantry platoon leader with the first cavalry and was a first lieutenant in the United States Army. Returning to the states after his service, DeMille went back to attend Hofstra University where he got a degree in Political Science and History. DeMille also holds three honorary doctorates: Doctor of Humane Letters from Hofstra University, Doctor of Humane Letters from Dowling University and Doctor of Literature from Long Island University. He has three children and still lives on Long Island.

DeMille’s earliest works were NYPD detective novels, his first major written work being By the Rivers of Babylon published in 1978. Other books he has written include Cathedral, The Talbot Odyssey,Word of Honor, The Gold Coast, The General’s Daughter, Spencerville, Plum Island, The Lion’s Game, Up Country, Night Fall, Wild Fire, The Gate House, The Lion, The Panther and The Quest. DeMille’s newest book Radiant Angel was published on May 26, 2015.
