Two-Time Tony Winner Christine Ebersole to Perform in Sag Harbor
Two-time Tony Award winning actress, Christine Ebersole will be captivating audiences at the Bay Street Theater in Sag Harbor on Saturday, August 1.
The one-woman show, Big Noise from Winnetka, features her amazing set of lungs performing songs, skits and stories. Ebersole has recently been in the spotlight for her role as Ms. Newberg on USA Network’s hit show Royal Pains and as Carol Walsh on TBS’s Sullivan & Son
For more than 30 years Ebersole has been involved in the arts. Whether it be the Broadway stage, television series, films, concert appearances or recordings, Ebersole is a true veteran. After realizing her talent at a young age, Ebersole headed to Hollywood and appeared in many hit movies, including Amadeus, Tootsie and Richie Rich. She appeared on television as well, with credits including The Cavanaughs, Valerie and the title role in Rachel Gunn, R.N.
As she got older, she realized that she was auditioning for roles that she used to be a shoo in for. Sometime after she turned 40 her agent told her she was “over the hill,” so she packed up her family and fled back to where she first started, Broadway stage productions. Everything changed for Ebersole as she once again found her niche. Then she received the role of a lifetime: Ebersole received almost every Off-Broadway award and her second Tony Award for Best Lead Actress in a Musical for her dual role as both Edith Bouvier Beale and “Little Edie” Beale in Grey Gardens.
When accepting her Tony Award, Ebersole said, “I left Hollywood when they told me I was over the hill and now I’m standing here with this most distinguished award for what I consider to be the role of a lifetime. I’m over the hill in the role of a lifetime! I consider this to be very encouraging.”
Christine Ebersole’s performance at the Bay Street Theater will begin at 8 p.m. on August 1. To purchase tickets, $69-$129, visit baystreet.org or call 631-725-9500.
