Billy Joel and Wife Alexis Have a Baby Daughter!
Congratulations to Hamptons Piano Man Billy Joel and his new bride Alexis Roderick who welcomed their new baby daughter, Della Rose Joel, into the world at 2:40 a.m. on Wednesday, August 12 in New York City.
Della—who weighed in at 7 pounds, 6.5 ounces, according to People.com—is 66-year-old Joel’s second child and 33-year-old Roderick’s first. Joel had his first daughter, 29-year-old Alexa Ray Joel, in December of 1985 with supermodel, fellow Hamptonite and second wife Christie Brinkley, who he married in March of that year. Alexa Ray Joel got her middle name as a tribute to the great Ray Charles, but there’s no word yet on whether Della Rose Joel is also named for one of her father’s heroes.
Joel did not have children with first wife Elizabeth Weber Small, who he married in 1973, or with his third wife, Hamptonite Katie Lee, who he married in 2004, but a source told People.com that “Billy is thrilled to become a dad again.”
Joel and Roderick announced she was carrying his child in April, and they surprised a gathering of friends and family by getting married during the musician’s annual July 4 party at his Long Island estate. New York Governor Andrew Cuomo presided over the ceremony and guests at the party included daughter Alexa Ray and actor Kevin James.
Roderick is a former Morgan Stanley executive and an accomplished equestrian.
