Helicopter Noise to Be Addressed at Southold Community Forum
The issue of helicopter noise pollution on the East End will be the topic of a forum Thursday, August 13, hosted by the Southold Town Board and Suffolk County Legislator Al Krupski.
The meeting will focus on helicopter noise affecting local communities. It will also provide an overview on developing solutions that have been in the works since 2014 and touch on the possibilities of noise abatement and reduction of helicopter traffic.
Those expected to speak that night are legislative aide for Congressman Lee Zeldin’s office Kevin Dowling, Southold Town Supervisor Scott Russell East Hampton Town Supervisor Larry Cantwell, Kathy Cunningham of the Quiet Skies Coalition, representatives from the Southold Town Helicopter Committee and several Advisory Council members from communities on the South Fork.
Panelists will be given a total of 5 minutes to speak and members of the public will be given 3 minutes to ask questions and offer comments.
The meeting will commence at 6:30 p.m. at the Southold Town Recreation Center, 970 Peconic Lane, Peconic.
