Inside Guild Hall's Garden as Art Tour
East Hampton’s Guild Hall will present The Garden as Art: a garden to table tour for foodies and flower lovers alike on Saturday, August 22. A cocktail reception will be held on Friday evening to launch the event, followed by a breakfast by the Golden Pear, a farmers market, and a benefactors’ luncheon on Saturday. After savoring the bounty of the East End, attendees will tour six of East Hampton’s most vibrant edible gardens.
Included in the tour is The Macklowe Garden on West End Road, designed by owner Barbara Macklowe. Dan’s Papers was given a special preview of this immaculate site. Surrounding a weathered stucco house on a tertiary dune, the gardens here enhance the property with vines and climbing plants, including espaliered apple trees and climbing roses. In addition to the bountiful sight of flowering plants and fresh herbs spread across the yard, the property boats a view that overlooks Georgica Pond to the Northwest, while the backyard has a wide and expansive view over the Atlantic Ocean. The Macklowe Garden is a must-see of Guild Hall’s The Garden as Art.
Five additional gardens will be on-view on Saturday, August 22. For tickets and additional information, visit guildhall.org.
