Joy Behar Under Fire for Comments About Nurses and Miss Colorado
Sag Harbor’s Joy Behar, who recently returned to daytime talkshow The View as a full-time co-host, is already at the center of controversy, this time for comments she made about Miss Colorado Kelley Johnson, a nurse.
On Monday’s show, co-host Michelle Collins first brought up the talent portion of the Miss America pageant, and Johnson’s decision to deliver a monologue about her experience as a nurse.
“She came out in her nurse’s uniform and basically read her emails outloud, and shockingly did not win. I was like, ‘That’s not a real talent.’ I swear to god, it was hilarious,” Collins said.
“Why does she have a doctor’s stethoscope around her neck?” Behar asked.
Behar tweeted an apology Wednesday.
I am truly sorry to anyone I have offended.

In Wednesday’s The View, Behar explained that she was being inattentive. She said she saw Johnson in her nurse’s scrubs with a stethoscope, and she thought maybe it was just a costume. “I’m used to seeing them in gowns and bathing suits,” she said of Miss America contestants.
Collins said their comments were taken out of context.
