Paul McCartney Reissues 80s Classics, Hosts Coloring Contest
Amagansett resident and rock legend Paul McCartney is reissuing his classic 1980s albums Tug of War and Pipes of Peace on October 2. The records, which include unreleased demos and outtakes, are part of an ongoing series of reissues of McCartney’s Wings albums and solo work, called the Paul McCartney Archive Collection.
Featuring favorite songs such as “Ebony and Ivory” with Stevie Wonder and “Say Say Say” with Michael Jackson, both albums contain hits. McCartney’s 1982 album Tug of War reached number one on the charts, earned great critical success and was deemed a “masterpiece” by Rolling Stone.
Both reissues will be released in multi-disc sets, as well as on vinyl. Each will also be available in a deluxe version with additional DVD along with essay and scrapbooks with Tug of War, and a book with Pipes of Peace about the title song’s video shoot. A super deluxe version of Tug of War, limited to 1,000 copies, comes in a slipcase with five photo prints from the archive of Linda McCartney.
To celebrate the albums’ reissue, McCartney is asking fans to download and then personalize coloring-book-style images from paulmccartney.com, and them post them to Instagram and/or Twitter with the hashtag #WarAndPeace. (Check out our version above!) Favorites will be reposted in the Fan Art section of McCartney’s site, and the best of them will win Deluxe Edition copies of either Pipes of Peace or Tug of War. Three other runners up will win regular copies of both albums.
Winners will be chosen at 7 a.m. (NY time) on Friday, October 30.
