Southampton, East Hampton, Riverhead Waldbaum's to Close Next Month

The Waldbaum’s grocery stores in Southampton Village and East Hampton Village are both set to close next month and are being sold to Stop & Shop, while the Riverhead Waldbaum’s will shut it doors without a new store immediately taking over.
Stop & Shop signage is already cropping up as the supermarkets wind down.
The shelves are rapidly becoming bare as the stores discount their in-stock items. Only certain items, such as fresh milk and eggs and hot foods, are continuously being delivered to the stores, while most nonperishable goods will not be restocked.
The closings are a result of A&P, which owns A&P, Waldbaum’s and Pathmark grocery stores, filing for chapter 11 bankruptcy.
Waldbaum’s stores in Westhampton Beach and Mattituck will remain open, but they are for sale.
