Billy Joel to Perform National Anthem at World Series Friday

Sag Harbor’s Billy Joel will appear at Citi Field on Friday night to perform the National Anthem before the Mets host the Kansas City Royals in game three of the World Series.

The Mets fan—who played the final concert at Shea Stadium—performed “Meet the Mets” on his piano during his October 21 monthly concert at Madison Square Garden. Joel has performed the Anthem before a game in both the 1986 and 2000 World Series, and both times the Mets lost those games, Sports Illustrated points out.

Joel may be 0-2, but that just means he is due for a win.
