Scarlett Johansson Shines in 'Hail, Caesar!' Trailer
Amagansett’s Scarlett Johansson shines in the new trailer for Hail, Caesar!, an upcoming film by Joel and Ethan Coen, aka the Coen Brothers. The hotly anticipated movie also stars Channing Tatum, George Clooney, Josh Brolin, Jonah Hill, Tilda Swinton and Frances McDormand.
Set in 1950s Hollywood, this stylish noir film follows studio fixer Eddie Mannix (Brolin), who is also Capital Pictures’ head of physical production. Tasked with maintaining the clean reputation of the company and its stars, keeping them free from controversy, Mannix must find missing studio superstar Baird Whitlock (Clooney) who disappears after not showing up on the set of their current “prestige” production, Hail Caesar, a Tale of Christ’s Life. He initially thinks Whitlock is out on a bender, but receives a call from a Communist group which claims to have kidnapped him and asks for a ransom. As Mannix gets the ransome together, he must deal with an unhappy director who is working on another project, and innocent young starlet DeeAnna Moran (Johansson) who is pregnant and unmarried—all while batting back gossip columnists hot for a scandal.
The Coen Brothers are famous for cult favorites such as The Big Lebowski (1998), O Brother, Where Art Thou? (2000), No Country for Old Men (2007) and Fargo (1996), to name a few. Their 2013 folk music film, Inside Llewyn Davis, was partly filmed in Riverhead.
Hail, Caesar! is due for release on February 5, 2016.
