WPPB 88.3 FM, the East End’s public radio station based in Southampton, has kicked off its fall pledge drive with a goal to raise $50,000.
The only NPR-affiliate on Long Island, WPPB broadcasts 70 hours a week of locally produced music, news and community interest programming, 50 hours a week of special interest programs from independent national producers, and popular NPR content and the PBS NewsHour.
“We cover a world of ideas including an eclectic collection of music, books, travel, pets, health, nutrition, space exploration and sports,” the radio station states.
The “quiet pledge drive” began September 28 and continues through October 4, during which time listeners are asked to donate by visiting peconicpublicbroadcasting.org. The on-air pledge drive starts Monday, October 5, and continues through Saturday, October 10.
Among the thank-you gifts are tickets to the Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center, the Bay Street Theater Halloween Costume party and holiday gift certificates.
WPPB is a Dan’s Best of the Best honoree and is nominated for 2015. Voting is happening now.
