April Gornik Is 2016 ARF Pet Calendar Cover Artist
April Gornik, the North Haven painter, had contributed her art for the cover of the Animal Rescue Fund of the Hamptons’ 2016 Pet Calendar.
Gornik has been a member of New York’s art scene since the late 1970s. Dominated by sky and devoid of people, Gornik’s dramatic landscapes-luminously lit and eerie-demand a powerful emotional response. Stylistically mature and graceful, Gornik’s work reflects an artist confident with her talent, channeling an assuredness that is manifested in her breathtaking panoramas. In 2003, she was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award from Guild Hall Museum, and she was the Neuberger Museum of Art Annual Honoree in 2004. Her husband is painter Eric Fischl, who made the cover for the 2015 ARF Pet Calendar.
Charming photographs of pets and pet owners are featured in the desk calendar. Funds raised from the calendar, which is $25, support the cats and dogs at the ARF Adoption Center in Wainscott, where more than 150 cats, kittens, puppies and dogs await adoption. Several Adoption Center residents are also featured in the calendar.
The ARF Pet Calendar is available for sale online at arfhamptons.org, at the Adoption Center at 91 Daniels Hole Road in Wainscott, the ARF Thrift Shop at 17 Montauk Highway in Sagaponack, as well as other retail shops throughout the Hamptons.
