'It’s Still Rock and Roll to Me' Billy Joel Conference Planned

The music and lyrics of Sag Harbor’s Billy Joel will be the subject of a public musicology conference being planned at Colorado College next year.

The conference is dubbed “It’s Still Rock and Roll to Me” and will take place at the campus in Colorado Springs from October 7 and 8, 2016.

The scholarly symposium will examine the consummate singer-songwriter whose compositions translate larger cultural concerns into accessible and compelling musical narratives. In the spirit of Joel’s music, this public musicology conference aims to share academically oriented insights on this popular figure and his output in an accessible and approachable manner, according to organizers.
