Southampton Hospital Appoints Kevin Unruh as V.P. of Imaging and Cancer Services

Southampton Hospital has announced the appointment of Kevin Unruh to the position of vice president of imaging and cancer services.
As the director of the hospital’s radiology department, he has been instrumental in the expansion of the hospital’s license to include radiology services at the Hampton Bays Atrium, according to a hospital statement.
Already accountable for the Ellen Hermanson Breast Center, East Hampton Radiology, and Hampton Bays Imaging, he will assume additional responsibility for planning and leading the hospital’s cancer services, which will include a new state-of-the-art PET/CT scanner at the main hospital campus and the development of the hospital’s plans for an off-site radiation oncology service in concert with Dr. Samuel Ryu, the chair of the department of radiation oncology at Stony Brook University Hospital and the deputy director of clinical affairs at Stony Brook University Cancer Center; Ernest Conforti, the associate executive director of Stony Brook Medicine’s Cancer Services; and Laura Borghardt, the director for the medical dosimetry program for the health science major in the School of health Technology and Management of Stony Brook Medicine.
Unruh is knowledgeable regarding the technical and clinical aspects of radiology, health informatics, and is experienced in coordinating vendor relationships in a highly technical area, according to the hospital. In this new role, Unruh will continue to report to Executive Vice President for Operations and Chief Medical Officer Fredric Weinbaum, MD.
