Watch Hugh Jackman in 'Eddie the Eagle' Trailer
Hamptons visitor Hugh Jackman is clearly excited to promote his new film, Eddie the Eagle, about Britain’s underdog ski jumper Eddie Edwards, who charmed the world in the 1988 Olympics. Jackman, who plays fictional ski coach Bronson Peary in the film, surprised movie fans by bringing it to the Sundance Film Festival and then, more recently, he hosted a screening at New York’s Landmark Sunshine Cinema last week.
The Australian actor says Edwards’ story—a British laborer making it to the Olympics and flying on skis—is important because it shows kids “you don’t have to win to be a winner,” Page Six reports.
Eddie the Eagle, also starring Taron Egerton as Edwards and Christopher Walken as Peary’s mentor Warren Sharp, opens Friday, February 26 at theaters everywhere.
