2016 St. Patrick’s Day Events on the East End of Long Island
St. Patrick’s Day is fast approaching, and the East End is celebrating everything Irish! Check out some of these great events—you may not find a four-leaf clover, but you won’t need luck to have some good, green fun.
Start your weekend off with the annual Westhampton Beach St. Patrick’s Day Parade on Saturday, March 12 at noon. Grand Marshal John Murray will lead from Main Street. For more information, visit whbstpats.com.
Top off the day at the Riverhead Lions 2016 Corned Beef & Cabbage Fundraiser, which includes dinner, Irish step dancers, bagpipes, Irish music, a raffle and more. Tickets are $22, $18 for senior citizens and $14 for kids. Call 631-727-4900 for more information.
Next up on Sunday, March 13 at 11 a.m. is the Bayport-Blue Point St. Patrick’s Day Parade, starting at Snedecor Avenue in Bayport. For more information, visit bayportbluepoint.com.
Suffolk Theater gets into the St. Paddy’s spirit on Thursday, March 17 (St. Patrick’s Day!) with Judy Collins: Ireland at 8 p.m. The iconic folk singer will perform hits from her album and TV special recorded in Ireland. Saturday, March 19 is a big parade day. The Patchogue Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade begins at 10 a.m. at the intersection of Main Street and Rider Avenue.
At 11 a.m. on March 19, Grand Marshal William Patrick Hughes will lead the 12th Annual Hampton Bays Hibernians St. Patrick’s Day Parade. The parade steps off at Hampton Bays Elementary School.
Head to Jamesport for the East End Emerald Society St. Patrick’s Day Parade at 2 p.m. The parade travels from North Railroad Avenue to the Jamesport Fire Department. This year’s grand marshal is Sean McCabe. For more information, visit eastendemeraldsociety.com.
For something a little different on March 19, head to Mashashimuet Park in Sag Harbor at 10 a.m. for Southampton Trails Preservation Society’s St. Patrick’s Day Walk. For more information, call 631-745-0689.
Of course, all East Enders know Montauk is THE place to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. On Friday, March 18, the Montauk Friends of Erin will host the annual Grand Marshal Luncheon at noon. This year, Captain Paul Forsberg will have the honor of being introduced, roasted and presented with his parade sash. Tickets are $50 in advance and $55 at the door. The Friends of Erin host their Annual Cocktail Party on Saturday, March 19 at 4 p.m. This party will have Irish food, an open bar, and live music by Booga Sugar. The Montauk Friends of Erin’s weekend of celebration comes to a close on Sunday, March 20 with the 54th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade, beginning at 11:30 a.m. Head to Main Street for this beloved annual tradition!
