Dan's Taste of Summer Countdown: Michael Chernow, Seamore's

Dan’s Papers’ newest Taste of Summer event, ClambakeMTK at Gurney’s Montauk, premieres on Saturday, July 30. It will be the largest oceanfront food and drink fest ever to hit Montauk. In addition to local food and restaurants, ClambakeMTK will bring together a range of top New York restaurants including Seamore’s, which is located on Broome Street. Michael Chernow, Seamore’s owner, co-founder of The Meatball Shop and host of the reality show Food Porn on the FYI network, is looking forward to bringing his crew to The End in July.

What fuels your creativity as a chef?
The seasons, the sun and wellness.

What local ingredients are you using right now?
Spring onions, fiddle heads, early asparagus.

What do you think of the Montauk Fishburger Project?
Love it. Sustainable eating is the only way we can ensure longevity and health in our lives and the life of our environment. Eat sustainably whenever possible.

What is your local beverage, or cocktail, of choice this season?
A new organic cold-pressed watermelon juice.

Which of your dishes would you most like to serve to another chef?
The crispy fish tacos at Seamore’s.

How has the gluten-free eating trend affected your menu?
Most everything on the menu can be made gluten-free, aside from the sandwiches.

What are you most looking forward to at ClambakeMTK?
A day with my crew cooking outside, it’s always fun to change up the environment for us. Being by the water is the best.

My mother would not approve of…
my motorcycle; but she would approve of the flavor I get from the breakfast bagels for brunch at Seamore’s.

I could survive on a desert island if I just had:
coconuts and fish.

Dan’s Taste of Summer kicks off with Dan’s GrillHampton on Friday, July 22, and continues on Saturday, July 23, with Dan’s Taste of Two Forks presented by Farrell Building Company, both on the waterfront at Fairview Farm at Mecox in Bridgehampton.
