The Real Housewives of New York Head to the Hamptons
If you ever feel like your friends are out of their minds and full of drama, watch The Real Housewives of New York Season 8 and you’ll feel better instantly. Now in its eighth season, RHONY is just as crazy as ever, if the ladies’ latest trip to the Hamptons in this week’s episode is any indication.
RHONY royalty Bethenny Frankel’s birthday BBQ at her house in Bridgehampton is the epic main event of the week. As RHONY was filmed in the fall, there’s lots of nice scenery and East End foliage to enjoy, but who can appreciate that when there’s confrontations to be had and tears to be shed? The high drama of the moment is all about Dorinda Medley’s shady new boyfriend, John Mahdessian. Nobody likes poor John. He smells weird, is “sweaty and misshapen” (thank Carole Radziwill for that one) and is not a nice guy. So when Dorinda shows up to Bethenny’s BBQ with John—who was not invited—all the gals start taking sides. Carole suggests that Bethenny make peace with him for the sake of stifling the drama, but it’s too late. Bethenny and John argue, Dorinda cries, Luann de Lesseps tries to make her feel better, Bethenny and John decide to make up for Dorinda’s sake, all is well…
Unless you’re Luanne or Carole, in which case things are even worse. Carole has been dating the much-younger Adam, who used to date Luann’s niece. They have been fighting about it (obviously) and Luann wants to make up, but Carole won’t have it, so the two agree to be cordial but not friends.
There’s also lesser drama over in Water Mill. RHONY newbie Julianne “Jules” Wainstein and her husband Michael have been working on renovating their home for several years, and Bethenny doesn’t think it’s a good idea. When an eager-to-impress Jules has the ladies over for a casual brunch, Bethenny quickly starts rambling (and silently judging) about the extent of the renovations, calling the house a “money pit.” In a testimonial, Jules is angry and defends the renovations. And of course, the “Skinnygirl” queen comments that Jules doesn’t seem to eat. Ever.
Somehow, Ramona Singer avoids most of the craziness, as does Sonja Morgan. Whatever. They’ll probably be at it next week.
