'Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt' Returns for Season 2
It’s a miracle!
Netflix’s Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, starring Hamptonite Jane Krakowski, returns for a second season on Friday, April 15. The half-hour Tina Fey-produced comedy tells the story of Kimmy (Ellie Kemper), a young woman who starts her life anew after being rescued from a doomsday bunker she was held captive in for most of her life. Rather than let her dark past cloud her future, Kimmy decides to live life to the fullest, moving to Manhattan and meeting a colorful cast of wacky characters.
Among the loveable group of misfit Manhattanites Kimmy befriends are socialite Jacqueline Voorhees (Krakowski), who hires Kimmy as her son’s nanny; Titus Andromedon (Tituss Burgess), Kimmy’s over-the-top roommate who dreams of being a Broadway star; and Lillian Kaushtupper (Carol Kane), their slightly paranoid landlady with a drinking problem.
In the first season, Kimmy helped Jacqueline reconnect with her Native American heritage (it’s nowhere near as offensive as some might assume), encouraged Titus to follow his dreams of starring in The Lion King, went to night school (and dealt with a moody teacher played by East Ender Richard Kind!) and ultimately got her kidnapper, Richard Wayne Gary Wayne (Jon Hamm), put away for good. She also dated for the first time and met her younger sister Kymmi (Kiernan Shipka).
First season guest stars included Jerry Minor and Fey herself as totally “fictional” prosecuting attorneys Chris Darden and Marcia Clark, respectively. Hamptons fave Christine Ebersole also appeared as the first wife of Jacqueline’s husband, and East Ender Matt Lauer interviews Kimmy as himself.
All 13 episodes of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt Season 2 will be available on Netflix on Friday, April 15. Watch the trailer below!
