Custom Closets: Let Experts Organize Your Life
Closets By Design Long Island, a family-run business, is taking every kind of closet you can imagine and making life just a little more organized. Specializing in custom-made closets, their designers create storage space for areas ranging from your home office to the garage or pantry. Owner and operator, Matt Caemmerer, gave Dan’s Papers the scoop on what this great service has to offer East End customers.
What’s the first thing potential customers need to know?
We offer a great product at a great value. When our customers are done with us, their quality of life gets better. We’re adding 60 seconds to their free time whenever our organizing systems help them more easily find what they’re looking for.
Are there specific designs East Enders favor?
Our customers in the Hamptons favor light, beachy colors and wood textures. The design is made up of two components: One, fitting a lot of storage into one area (i.e. the functional use); and two, the aesthetic.
What are some key closet techniques and equipment?
We truly have state-of-the-art equipment. Our sales department has CAD and CAM (computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing), which give 3D renderings of what your closet will look like when finished.
What can a customer expect when they decide to get a closet designed?
We’ve serviced over 25,000 customers. We set them up with a designer within 24 to 48 hours, after about an hour or two of talking with them. They’re left with a CAD drawing and a proposal. We let them know that this will improve the quality of their lives. We care. I’m here everyday. Because we’re family run we have really deep roots on Long Island.
What inspired you to open on the East End?
We’ve been in business for over 13 years. We recently partnered with Hamptonhouss on County Road 39 in Southampton to display our products. The inspiration is quality of life. I go to sleep better at night knowing that I’m improving our customers’ lives.
What are some of the most common closet organization problems?
More than anything, they’re trying to get 10 pounds of stuff into an eight-pound bag. We help our customer organize so they can find what they’re looking for each day. People get hooked on closets.
