Devious Maids Returns for Season 4
Lifetime’s Devious Maids, which co-stars Hamptonite Susan Lucci, returns for Season 4 tonight at 9 p.m.
The primetime soap opera follows the lives of a group of close-knit Latina maids—Zoila (Judy Reyes), who is pregnant and recently divorced; Carmen (Roselyn Sánchez) who has dreams of being a pop star; Rosie (Dania Ramirez) who faced deportation more than once, as well as wealthy single gal Marisol (Ana Ortiz), who went undercover as a maid to prove her son’s innocence in a brutal murder—as they navigate the upscale and dysfunctional worlds of the homes they clean. The series also stars Lucci as Genevieve Delatour, a ditzy but kind socialite who considers Zoila her best friend; Grant Show as former soap hunk Spence Westmore, who is on-again/off-again with Rosie; Mariana Klaveno as conniving movie star Peri Westmore, who wants her ex-hubby Spence back; Tom Irwin as sleazy but charming businessman Adrian Powell; and Rebecca Wisocky as Evelyn Powell, Adrian’s bitter wife who finds herself confiding in the maids more than her other friends.
It’s a tangled web, but that’s what makes the series so fun. Developed by Desperate Housewives creator Marc Cherry, Devious Maids doesn’t take itself too seriously, and often plays its insane twists with tongue planted firmly in cheek. Lucci, who starred on All My Children for the entirety of its 41-year run on ABC, provides many of the show’s laughs, such as earnestly assuming there is a governmental “entitlement program” for wealthy people when they go broke.
For added fun, executive producer Eva Longoria will guest-star on tonight’s episode. Check out the trailer for Season 4 below.
