The Hamptons Week Ahead: Billy Gardell, Underpants and More
Looking for something out of the ordinary to fill your free time this week? Here are some one-of-a-kind events shaking things up on the East End.
Tuesday
Mike & Molly’s Billy Gardell at Patchogue Theatre
Comedian and star of the hit television series Mike and Molly Billy Gardell will perform Tuesday night at 8:30 p.m. at the Patchogue Theatre. The comedian, who began his career in stand-up on a bet, has acted in many popular comedies, including The King of Queens, Yes, Dear, and My Name is Earl, and in 2008 appeared in his own Comedy Central standup special. Tickets to this event start at $55, the proceeds of which will benefit the Knapp Cardiac Care Center at Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center, the Patchogue Family YMCA and 20 other local charities. Bridgehampton 360th Birthday Tour
Starting at 11 a.m.on June 9th, join a Bridgehampton Birthday tour to visit the many museums and sites that exemplify the history and culture of the town. Start at the Children’s Museum of the East End (CMEE) and then make your way across the street for the South Fork Natural History Museum (SOFO.) At 12:30 there will be a 15-minute tour of the Dan Flavin Art Institute on Corwith Avenue, followed by a catered lunch at the Horticultural Alliance of the Hamptons. This will be followed by a look through the Bridgehampton Museum (Corwith House) and a tour of Good Shepherd Farm. This is a day of fast-paced fun, and a great way to honor the history of the town. The Underpants by Steve Martin at Guild Hall
Head to opening night of this hilarious comedy by Steve Martin. An adaptation of the German farce Die Hose, this latest production, directed by Bill Fennelly, is full of non-stop whip fast wit and innuendo for an evening of pure laughter. Tee Off For A Cause
From 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. head to the Rock Hill Golf & Country Club for a charity golf outing, dinner and auction to support Boots on the Ground NY, a local charity that helps Long Island verterans in need. $150 per golfer, $50 per dinner guest. RJA Memorial Mighty Montauk Triathlon
Head to Montauk this weekend for what many consider to be the East end season opener event, the RJA Memorial Mighty Montauk Triathlon. Starting at 7:30 a.m. the race will take contestants through a 1 mile swim in Lake Montauk, 22 miles bike, and a 6.2 miles run, rain or shine. Blessing of the Fleet
Celebrate the summer fishing season with this Montauk tradition, a way of honoring the local boats and the people who work on them. Following the Blessing, the boats will continue out into Block Island Sound to meet the US Coast Guard and cast memorial wreaths into the sea. The tradition began in 1955 and continues today as a cornerstone of the Montauk community. Blessing begins at 5 p.m. at the end of the Town Dock.
International Brunch Series at The Watermill Center
The Watermill Center joins together with local chefs and farm stands to create a delicious meal like no other. Enjoy the meal while sitting beside artists from Chile, Cuba, Germany, Mexico and the United States in this intimate, artistic and delicious experience. This weekend, resident culinary artist Eva Schmidt creates dishes to reflect the East End. Reservations for the brunch are available for a donation of $75 per person.
