Katharina Otto-Bernstein to Receive ARF Champion of Animals Award

Hamptonites despise stormy weather—unless it is raining cats and dogs.

On Saturday, August 20, Animal Rescue Fund of the Hamptons (ARF) is hosting the Bow Wow Meow Ball, honoring Katharina Otto-Bernstein with the Champion of Animals award for her effortless dedication and allegiance to helping ARF’s animals find homes. World-renowned theater genius and visual artist Robert Wilson will present the award.

Otto-Bernstein, a filmmaker, has long supported ARF, attending the organization’s benefits throughout the years, even adopting some of the non-profit’s animals and contributing an annual food donation to their cats and dogs that are awaiting adoption.

In addition to Otto-Bernstein’s recognition, the night will include an epicurean celebration, starting with cocktails, followed by a sit-down dinner catered by Glorious Food. After the dinner, guests will be invited to the dance floor where Peter Duchin Orchestra will be providing music. Over 400 high-profile guests from New York and the Hamptons are expected to attend.

Other celebratory events rounding out the night will include a live auction hosted by Auctioneer and Vice Chairman of Sotheby’s Benjamin Doller, an online auction with charitybuzz.com and a silent auction. There will also be a selection of ARF cats and dogs on-site at the event available for adoption.

ARF’s animals are rescued from all different types of situations, including puppy mill rescues, adoptions from animal control centers and from people who can no longer care for their pets. This year, ARF is expected to host over 1,600 dogs and cats in its adoption center, providing full medical and humane care. Once the dogs and cats are determined to be healthy and sociable, they are made available for adoption through its facility, a mobile adoption van and different adoption events that take place throughout the New York area. Over the years, ARF has helped find suitable homes for 22,000 cats and dogs.

ARF’s Bow Wow Meow Ball will take place on Saturday, August 20 at ARF Adoption Center, 91 Daniels Hole Road, Wainscott.
