"Rocky" Screens at Southampton Arts Center
Southampton Arts Center continues its Free Friday Night Outdoor Screenings with Rocky on Friday, July 29, presented in partnership with Hamptons International Film Festival and sponsored by Dan’s Papers.
In his first major role, Sylvester Stallone is Rocky Balboa, a struggling boxer trying to make the big time. His chance comes when heavyweight champion Apollo Creed visits Philadelphia looking for a “Cinderella” opponent for a July 4 Bicentennial match! Directed by John G. Avildsen, this 1976 film was shot in 28 days and made on a budget of just over $1 million, but it earned $225 million at the box office and cemented its place in the great American film canon. It also led to six successful sequels, including last year’s Creed. Take the opportunity to see it on the big screen!
The screening will take place on the grounds of the Southampton Arts Center at 25 Jobs Lane in Southampton Village. Bring a blanket or beach chairs and a picnic to enjoy the film with your friends and family.
A round of Rocky trivia will take place prior to the movie, so bone up on your facts about this classic film!
Approximate start time: 8:30 p.m. on Friday, July 29.
