Ann Liguori to Receive Corey Award at Gene Michael Charity Golf Classic and Dinner
Westhampton resident, sports show host, golf correspondent and interviewer Ann Liguori will be one of the recipients of the Corey Award at this year’s Gene Michael Charity Golf Classic and Dinner.
Liguori will be awarded for her lifelong career in broadcasting, notable as being one of the first voices of WFAN and for her coverage of sports events for the past 30 years, as well as her work for her charity organization, the Ann Liguori Foundation, whose efforts raise funds and awareness for cancer research, prevention and care.
The 2016 Corey Awards Dinner will be held at the Brooklake Country Club in Florham Park, New Jersey, on August 22, with this year’s dinner celebrating 100 years of Frank Sinatra and his prolific career. As part of the tribute, this year’s recipients of the Corey Award are all notable Italian-Americans who have contributed to society along the span of their lifelong careers. Joining Liguori will be actor Danny Aiello (Do the Right Thing, Once Upon a Time in America) and actor Tony Lo Bianco (The French Connection).
The Corey Awards Dinner is the major annual fundraiser for the Ed Lucas Foundation for the Blind and Disabled, an organization that provides scholarships for disabled students, sponsors the raising and care for guide dogs, supports research for diabetes and many other illnesses and ailments.
Among the guests of honor, the event will also be attended by dozens of celebrities from Hollywood and the sports world, as well as costumed characters and entertainers. Sportscasters Spencer Ross and Don Gould will be present, serving as the auctioneers-in-honor for evening’s auction, which will feature hundreds of autographed collectibles and memorabilia from film and sports, along with a piece by James Fiorentino featuring several portraits of Frank Sinatra throughout his career.
