Michael Arden Marries Partner Andy Mientus
Congratulations are in order for Michael Arden, who directed the superb production of My Fair Lady at Bay Street Theater. The 33-year-old Arden married fiancé Andy Mientus on Thursday, August 18 at Babington House in Somerset, England and sealed the deal with a tweet:
Mister and Mister.

Arden has long been a proponent of LGBTQIA rights. He told Dan’s Papers, “I think we’re at a critical moment in history,” he says. “It’s incredibly important for people’s voices and thoughts to be known and for people to not be silent on issues of their injustice. It’s going to take every group of people that’s been discriminated against to come together and ultimately, that’s about laying our weapons down and coming together in love.”
Mientus is most known for his theater work, like Arden. Viewers may also recognize Mientus from his role as playwright Kyle Bishop on NBC’s Smash. Arden was nominated for a Tony Award this past year for his production of Spring Awakening, which Mientus starred in. My Fair Lady opened to rave reviews, with Dan’s Papers calling it “as good as it gets.”
The couple even met at a theatrical event. “We met at the opening night of Twyla Tharp’s The Times They Are-a Changin.’ His college roommate was in the show with me,” said Arden. The two were also engaged at the Babington House. “It’s a beautiful place,” he said.
Congratulations to the lovely newlyweds!
