Super Saturday 2016 Events Raise Over $3 Million for Ovarian Cancer Research

On Saturday, July 30, Donna Karan, Kelly Ripa and Gabby Karan de Felice hosted the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund Alliance’s 19th annual Super Saturday NY, a charity shopping event.

In 2016, OCRFA’s Super Saturday events raised nearly $3.5 million for ovarian cancer research, attracted many prominent, high-profile guests including June Ambrose, former Mayor Rudolph Giuliani and wife Judith, Molly Sims, Rebecca Minkoff, Jonathan Cheban and Kristen Taekman.

The fundraiser is known famously to raise money through its one-of-a-kind designer garage sale. The Super Saturday garage sale, dubbed the “Rolls-Royce of garage sales” by the New York Times, includes a plethora of discounted merchandise from more than 150 designer brands including DKNY, Henri Bendel, Ralph Lauren, alice + olivia, SoulCycle, Brooks Brothers, Theory, VINCE and Calypso St. Barth.

In addition to the garage sale, Rachel Zoe curated a booth called “Designs A to Zoe” featured some of her favorite clothing items from designers including Calvin Klein, Moschino, Sergio Rossi, Stella McCartney and Diane von Furstenberg.

Two new exhibits were added to Super Saturday NY including the Lifestyle Marketplace and a Suite 1521 Booth. The Lifestyle Marketplace, curated by Karan de Felice and Karan, included an unordinary compilation of accessories, home goods and clothing. The Suite 1521 booth sold ready-to-wear clothing and accessories from brands including Ashish, Markus Lupfer, Katrantzou and Anya Hindmarch.

While the shopping remained to be the prominent attraction at the event, guests were able to enjoy psychic readings with the psychic Betsy Wahmann, floral crown making presented by B Floral, a wine and hair bar, and water bottles passed out by representatives from FIJI Water. While adults enjoyed luxury services, kids were able to take part in arts and crafts projects at Camp Divalysscious and play video games at Space East.

There was also a raffle containing prizes from different designers and companies including Manolo Blahnik, Gucci, Barneys New York, New York Giants, Lorraine Schwartz, Coach, Fred Marcus Photography and 27 Hampton Salon.
