Jill Rappaport Hosts Pet Adoption Event in Bridgehampton
Award winning animal advocate, author, journalist and Water Mill resident Jill Rappaport is helping kick off Adopt a Shelter Dog Month with a special Pet Adoption Event at the Hampton Library in Bridgehampton on Saturday, October 1.
The event will offer refreshments and introduce visitors to a variety of pets available for adoption from the Southampton Animal Shelter Foundation, a local organization Rappaport has partnered with in the past. During a visit to help donate 1,000 doses of the ParaDefense flea-preventative to SASF in February, Rappaport praised them as the “Canyon Ranch of Shelters,” and on Saturday, she says the organization will bring several dogs, a couple cats and possibly a guinea pig or rabbit to the adoption event.
“It’s the first time, so it’s going to be really cute,” Rappaport said, noting that she will say a few words at the Hampton Library and will remain on hand to host the afternoon of adoptions and advocacy, educating the public about the importance of animal rescue. “It’s all for a great cause.”
The Pet Adoption Event will take place at the Hampton Library, rain or shine, in Bridgehampton (2478 Main Street) on Saturday, October 1 from 12–3 p.m. For more details, call the Hampton Library at 631-537-0015, hamptonlibrary.org, or the Southampton Animal Shelter Foundation at 631-728-7387, southamptonanimalshelter.com.
