Eat the Hamptons' Best French Fries on National Fast Food Day
Today, November 16, 2016, is National Fast Food Day, and to celebrate we’re presenting the 2016 winners for Dan’s Best of the Best French fries in the Hamptons. The list is especially prudent on this day because, after winning no awards in 2015, fast food giant McDonald’s in Southampton came out of nowhere to earn Platinum distinction in 2016.
But those who choose white tablecloths and glass bottles over plastic trays and ketchup packets need not fret. This year’s winners list includes a variety of dining establishments, from the very fine to the very casual. No matter the preference, Dan’s Best of the Best voters have it covered!

It’s no secret that this year’s Platinum winner, McDonald’s (307 North Sea Road, Southampton 631-283-6777, mcdonalds.com) has amazing French fries. They’re crispy, salty and oh, so tasty. And why wouldn’t they beat the competition? As the company’s 2015 ad campaign explains: McDonald’s French fries have 19 ingredients, including natural beef flavoring, at least five different oils, and a few things that would be pretty hard to find in smaller, locally owned kitchens. If you really want to enjoy them, try dipping one in your milkshake—it’s pure, decadent heaven.
Multiple Dan’s Best of the Best award-winner 75 Main (75 Main Street, Southampton, 631-283-7575, 75main.com) is well known for it’s A-list diners, but there’s a reason the rich, famous and powerful congregate there. The food, including their Gold award-winning French fries, is really good!
Boom Burger (85 Montauk Highway, Westhampton Beach, 631-998-4663, boomburgerwhb.com) won Silver this year for their French fries. Hand cut and twice fried, these babies are a delight with salt alone, but true Boom Burger devotees should enjoy them with one or more of the restaurant’s famously unique toppings! Pre-topping options include waffle fries, sweet potato fries with maple mayo, tater tots and more. Now pile on some bacon, chili, cheese, garlic parmesan, chorizo or any one of the many toppings to spice things up. For truly adventurous eaters, the possibilities are endless.
Bronze winner, LT Burger (62 Main Street, Sag Harbor, 631-899-4646, ltburger.com) offers some seriously delicious French fries. Choose between waffle, skinny and sweet potato fries, or get daring and go with some smoked Guoda fries, though they may not actually apply to this list. All of them are browned to perfection and full of those wonderful nooks and crannies that keep diners come back.
