Mix the 2016 Best of the Best Cocktail with Montauk Rumrunners
Congratulations are in order for Montauk Rumrunners! The local, family owned company won New York International Spirits Competition awards for their Coconut Flavored Rum and Citrus Flavored Gin. The New York International Spirits Competition is the first major international spirits competition with judges from retail stores, restaurant and bar owners, distributors and importers. Montauk Rumrunners competed against almost 600 other businesses.
Montauk Rumrunners was created by sisters Kimberly Sarris Royal and Kate Sarris, who were inspired by stories and lore they heard from their family growing up. Their great-grandparents Alma and Christian Handrup operated the Roadside Restaurant in the old Montauk Fishing Village, where everyone had a hand in rumrunning during the Prohibition era. The Sarris sisters created their company to celebrate that history and adventure and spirit of the Montauk community.

We’re excited to share the recipe for that lovely libation with you below, as well as a bonus fudge recipe they shared for chocolate lovers. Both are written in amounts to serve an entire party.
The 2016 Best of the Best Cocktail
750ml Montauk Rumrunners Honey Flavored Whiskey
Half gallon apple cider
Half liter seltzer water
Mix and serve hot or cold. Garnish with apple slices and cinnamon stick.
Montauk Rumrunners Honey Whiskey Fudge
1/2 cup Montauk Rumrunners Honey Flavored Whiskey
19 oz bittersweet chocolate, chopped
14 oz sweetened condensed milk
Melt chocolate and mix thoroughly. Pour into pan lined with parchment paper and refrigerate for 12 hours.
