Brooke Shields Applies for Membership at the Meadow Club of Southampton
Sometimes fame isn’t enough.
According to Page Six, East Ender Brooke Shields has applied for membership at the famous Meadow Club of Southampton. You’d think that, well, being Brooke Shields would be enough to gain entry, but apparently things aren’t that black and white.
To gain membership to the ultra-exclusive Meadow Club, you have to be nominated by one current member, seconded by another and interviewed by a group of six members. After the interview, the applicant’s name is circulated among other members to see if anyone has any objections. Page Six reports that actresses are usually never admitted, but notes that Shields’ grandfather, Frank Shields, was a top-ranked tennis player in the 1920s and 30s. Maybe that will give her an edge?
And if the Meadow Club of Southampton is more interested in admitting people from prominent families, then Shields is in luck; the Shields family has connections to nobility from Genoa and Rome, according to a report by William Addams Reitwiesner.
Shields, whose birthday is today, May 31, recently launched Brooke Shields Now, a radio show on SiriusXM Stars. Guests have included East End faves like Hoda Kotb, Kathy Lee Gifford and Andy Cohen, makeup artist Bobbi Brown, John Lithgow, Lisa Kudrow, Alan Zweibel and others.
Best of luck to Shields on the Meadow Club front!
