Jimmy Fallon Commits to Moustache in July: But Which One?

Ever wish you could see Jimmy Fallon with a really sweet moustache? Well, there’s a reason he’s been looking so scruffy lately. The Sagaponack resident told his Tonight Show audience this week that he plans to wear a moustache (or mustache, if you prefer) throughout the month of July.

“I want to grow a moustache,” Fallon explained, showing off a “week’s worth” of facial hair. “But you can’t just start with a moustache, you have to have a beard…then shave that off and have the moustache,” he continued, adding pointedly, “This is going to be the summer of ‘stache for me…all of July I will have a moustache.”

Fallon said he plans to grow his scruff for one more week before shaving it off and debuting his new moustache, which leaves us with some time to opine—and perhaps place bets—on what kind of moustache he’ll wear. We’re going with the Tom Selleck ‘stache. It’s a no-brainer, really. Fallon is a child of the eighties, a lover of pop culture and a fan of nostalgia from his youth. He’s also got a good sense of humor—and a Selleck moustache is pretty funny on just about everyone except Tom Selleck himself—though Keith Hernandez also gets a pass.

Following his big moustache announcement—which included the “stachetag” #summerofstache (maybe #stachetag, too)—Fallon confirmed that Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel were indeed staying at his and wife Nancy Juvonen‘s Sagaponack home when he and Timberlake shot their famous bro-biking video over Memorial Day weekend. Fallon explained that the tandem bicycle was a birthday gift from Juvonen, but instead of riding it with her, it’s become something special between him and Timberlake.

“Every time Justin visits the house, he wants to take out the bike,” Fallon said, adding, “I have it in my garage for when Justin Timberlake comes.” Of course Timberlake’s video of their now infamous bro-biking went viral. So, Fallon says, he’s starting all kinds of trends this summer. “Just like with the moustache, everyone’s doing it.”
